Aug 22 - He walks!

Seth walked today!  No crutches.  Just a spotter and then eventually on his own.  Just like that.  It is truly incredible to see how far he has come.  He's now no longer using the wheelchair and I think soon will not be using crutches at all.

We've got a busy weekend lined up.  We are headed to the zoo on Saturday and then a barbecue with friends on Saturday night.  On Sunday, we are going to a baseball game at Coors field.  It should be fun!

And next week's schedule is packed to the brim.  They have Seth booked from 8:00 to 4:00 all day every day.  So we will actually be leaving early on Saturday morning and will be home to Durango sometime Saturday evening.  I think that will be better traffic wise for the holiday weekend as well.

I'm going to let Seth blog now....

Its somewhat surprising the dependencies we establish while on the mend.  Today we left the wheel chair back in the bedroom and ventured forth with only a crutch for mental and physical support. I found myself glancing back nervously towards my old friend the wheel chair wondering if we could part company so abruptly without hard feelings.  In the end it worked out fine though the left leg was quivering at the end of the day wondering just what the hell happened to the vacation that so abruptly ended.  I'm thrilled to be back on two legs and should be walking mostly normally in a week or less.  We'll leave running and jumping for later but just to walk is liberating.

Looking forward to visiting friends and neighbors back home.  I'll try not to bore you with stories and offer my advance apologies if I start describing how the so called modern medical community inserts a titanium rod into your femur in order to stabilize the break for proper healing.  Let me offer a hint that it includes use of a 16 ounce hammer and a power drill.

Be home soon and looking forward to sleeping in my own bed with the cat walking across my face to show her level of concern.

TTFN - Seth.

This is Jody now - See you all on Monday evening! Have a great weekend.
